A group of excited teenagers braved the entrance of The Manila Hotel, with placards in tow, hoping to get a glimpse of the KPop boy band 2PM. The South Korean idols held their presscon on Friday, March 1, to kick off their 2013 “What Time Is It?” live tour at the Mall of Asia Arena tomorrow, Saturday, March 2.
Thousands of fans are expected to attend the one-night-only concert to witness 2PM’s live performance for the first time on Philippine shores. Die hard Pinoy fans even learned Korean phrases like “Dangshin Uhl Saranghabnida!” which means “I Love you!” so their idols can understand them.
Karla is a 2PM fan, and was among those who waited at The Manila Hotel lobby. She said: “2PM are so hot right now and, as a true fan, the concert is a must-see!”
2PM is composed of Ok Taecyeon, Jing Wooyoung, Jun K, Hwang Chanseong, Lee Junho and Nickhun will perform their songs including hit singles “Hands Up”, “Heart Beat”, “Again and Again” and “Crazy Over You.” The KPop sensation are also set to thrill fans with a mix of acrobatic and eye candy dance moves they prepared especially for this tour.
Before even becoming a band, 2PM’s members were featured in a reality show entitled “Hot Blooded Men” that documented the rigorous training program and process the members had to undergo to make the cut. It also featured the elimination of three trainees from the group.
The boy band have performed in sold-out venues all over Asia and have won “Artist of the Year” at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards. In 2010, their album “Still 2:00PM” made the charts at #13 on Billboard’s World Album Chart, and last February 13, they released their second Japanese album, “The Legend of 2PM.”
When asked why they finally made a stop in the Philippines, Nickhun, one of the members, said “We have received many letters and presents from our Filipino fans and some even came to see us in Korea. We are grateful and we are really looking forward to finally meeting them in person!” He also shares, “We have always wanted to go to Philippines and we have been preparing very hard to put a good show for our fans. All of us are excited and nervous for our first concert in Manila.”
Their local promoter attests “This is definitely a show that shouldn’t be missed by both 2PM fans and KPop fans.”
